31 and beyond!

Have been really in a limbo for the past month.

Need to blog on the following:

1. Trip to Hua Phan, north eastern most of Laos, with its looming hills and low lying clouds, such generousity and warmth from the people.

2. Visit of my family, much to my distress and delight, and which I spent about S$2.5k on the 4 days they were here. Which was certainly, money well spent.

3. The eve of the day I turned 31, the two separations that I experienced, one in which made me sigh in melancholy under the cool wintry night.

4. My birthday ’surprise’ from my students and colleagues. Thanks!

5. Celebration of the Laos’ Teacher’s Day.

6. Attending an opera at the Novotel, with a most sumptuous dinner thrown in, all for free! Thanks to Christopher, General Manager of Novotel, who incidentally, is a vegetarian Buddhist! I have met a khakee! Woot!

7. Went to a village an hour away from Vientiane to take a look at Chris’ donation of a statue made on his late parents’ honour.

8. Trip to Bangkok to meet up with Khin Wai and Barry, army buddies forever lah! Stand up for Singapore!

9. Visit to Sg Embassy to discuss on future contracts.

10. My thoughts on turning 31! Oh my goodness! That, is scary!

11. Saying goodbye to my baby. I shed a tear or two, for you! Then, I turned on the tv and hey, you are history! Woot.

12. That Luang festival- Wonderful and crowded.

13. Boat Racing festival- Hot and well, not so wonderful.

14. Trip to Udon Thani- border town in Thailand to Vientiane. Went mad at shopping and bought useless stuff. Woot. Dread the day I go back to Sg.

15. Need to complete chapter 1 of my book, else Alvan will kill me!

16. Random flickers of thoughts.
