Went to the city of smiles to visit a friend, as well as to show a new colleague how to get from Vientiane to BKK via bus and train.
Was expecting some shopping and plenty of eating. And if time permitted, would like to go to the tiger temple, where the tigers will lick your head and let your pet them and literally hug you to death!
Arrived on Sunday, 12th April and went on a rampage at the food court at Centralworld.
Caught Fast and Furious 4 and when it ended at 4.30pm, thought I would catch Aliens vs Monsters at 6pm, only to realise that many shops were shutting down. At 4.30pm! On a Sunday!
Droves of customers filed out of the mega size shopping mall and it was the same at the nearby malls.
Got a little worried when I saw a tank and some armored vehicles racing down the road.

Took a cab back and was informed by the cabbie that there was a curfew!
Despite that, life still went on by and large for most of the people.
The next day, we were told that the train would not service the main shopping area. So we went to the Far East Plaze equivalent, Mah Boon Krong or something and piracy never had it better!
Took the train back Tuesday night and all was well.
In all, a very interesting albeit tense at times trip.
